Red Cross blood drive set for July 16

Albarez and the team traveled to Santo Domingo, Jalapa, Guatemala as part of an alternative spring break trip to provide entrepreneurship and health education. They were led by Dr. Godwin Ariguzo, Enactus supervisor and assistant professor of marketing in the Charlton College of Business.

During their time in Jalapa, the Enactus team taught 45 people CPR and two physicians treated 116 people. Additionally, they taught dental care lessons and distributed 100 sets of toothbrushes and toothpaste. They also encouraged 21 women to make crocheted items which they can sell outside of Santo Domingo.

Chess players recognized

LAWRENCE — The Arlington Elementary School Chess Club recognized its best players for the 2012 - 2013 academic year.

Darius Maker was recognized as the most outstanding player while Jandeliz Hernandez and Jaycob Zapata were named the most improved players.

Chess Club president Karen Pilarte received the Estephannie Estevez Memorial Blue & White Award for exemplary attitude, outstanding effort and unsurpassed support to the Chess Club. Estevez was instrumental in starting the chess club at Lawrence High, which she also led.

The Blue & White award is named in her honor. Estevez was a student at the Arlington School and will graduate from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester next year.
