Merrimack Valley Police Log

LAWRENCE - Police will review surveillance video from 389 Broadway after at least two gunshots were fired outside the store early Saturday morning.

Officers responded to Store 24 at 2:24 a.m. for a reported fight. As they got out of their cruisers, they heard a single gunshot, according to a report by Officer William Green.

“We took cover positions behind a vehicle that was in the parking lot as we scanned the scene for the shooter,” Green wrote.

A second shot then rang out from a nearby parking lot, police said.

As many as 75 people were in the parking lot and they ran as the shots were fired, Green wrote. Two .38 caliber shell casings were found in the area but a handgun or shooter was not found. There was blood in the parking lot, which may have come from someone injured during a fight, Green noted.

Fellow Officer Patrick Noonan said both he and Green were “rushed by a mob of people as we were trying to identify the shooter.”

Numerous officers then flooded the scene to investigate. Michael Angel Durran, 25, of 11 Lawrence St., #803, Lawrence was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct for repeatedly swearing at police officers. Once he was placed in the back of a police cruiser, “Durran began spitting, screaming more slurs and tried kicking out the rear passenger window.”

Then after he was booked and placed in a holding cell at the police department, “Durran continued his tirade, punching and kicking the cell door, as well as screaming and yelling,” Noonan wrote.
