METHUEN — A 33-year-old city man was in critical condition yesterday with a possible spinal injury after being struck by a car Wednesday night in a hit-and-run.
Paul Silva was crossing Union Street at 9:58 p.m. when a car turning from Railroad Street struck him. Silva, who was conscious at the scene, told police the car continued driving but then stopped just down the road before taking off again.
Police said Silva was listed in critical condition in a Boston hospital yesterday. The crash remains under investigation.
Silva described the car to police as a darkly colored, older-model, mid-sized vehicle. He told police it might have been a taxi or some kind of delivery vehicle and that it may have lost its front, left headlight in the collision.
