Senior Babe Ruth tryouts tomorrow in Lawrence

---- — LAWRENCE — The Lawrence Senior Babe Ruth League will be holding tryouts for boys ages 16 to 18 tomorrow at 1 p.m. on the varsity baseball field behind Lawrence High School, 75 North Parish Road.

The rain date will be Sunday, May 12 at 1 p.m.

A birth certificate is required. All returning players must attend and return their uniforms. An $80 fee is required for those who make the team.

Town Meeting begins Tuesday, May 21 at 7 p.m. at the North Andover High School Auditorium.

NECC plansreunion for classesof 1963-1973

Alumni of Northern Essex Community College who graduated between 1963 and 1973 are invited to attend a reunion on June 21 at 4 p.m. at DiBurro’s Function Hall in Bradford.

This reunion marks the 50th and 40th graduation anniversaries for the classes of 1963 and 1973, respectively. NECC opened its doors to its first students in 1961, and the class of 1963 is the first class to graduate from the college.

Volunteer organizers include class of 1963 members Maurice Viscuso, Rosemarie (Webb) D’Agata, and Bill Klueber, as well as Pat Kennedy, ‘66, and former NECC faculty member and administrator, Norman Landry.

Chamber holds Community Service Breakfast June 6

ANDOVER — The Andover Chamber of Commerce will hold its 2013 Annual Community Service Awards Ceremony and Breakfast on Thursday, June 6 from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover.

The morning’s program will include recognition of the five service clubs which benefit Andover in so many ways, The Exchange Club of Lawrence, The Kiwanis Club of Greater Lawrence, Quota International of Andover, The Rotary Club of Andover, and The Service Club of Andover. The program will include guest speaker Brian Pattullo, the Chief of Police in Andover, who will be stepping down from his position on July 31 after 15 years in that capacity.

According to the event organizers, “These five service clubs, which have served the Town of Andover so well for so many years, contribute in many important ways to the civic well-being of Andover and the surrounding communities. These service clubs are indeed special organizations which make our community special. They are most deserving of this award.”
