If you live in North Andover, Methuen and Haverhill, today (May 11) the National Association of Letter Carriers will be doing their part to stamp out hunger with a food drive. They are asking residents to put non-perishable food at your mailbox or in front of your door where carriers can see and collect it.
Much of the food collected locally will be given out to Lazarus House, Bread and Roses and Neighbors in Need.
”This is a big deal for us,” said Bob Dion, who heads one of the local letter carriers unions. “Nobody should go hungry. Nobody. We feel very strongly about this, as a union, and this is a small way of showing how much we care for people in need. We just ask residents to leave the food out where we can see it. We will collect it.”
