NORTH ANDOVER — Two youths were arrested Friday night after a break-in was reported at 22 Bixby Ave.
The homeowner confronted the two youths after he saw them walking out of his house, according to police Lt. Charles Gray. The two got into a car, which struck the homeowner as they were leaving, Gray said.
The homeowner, who got the registration number of the vehicle and reported it to the police at 6:12 p.m., was not hurt, he added.
Officer Brendan Gallagher, who was working a private detail on Waverly Road, saw a car with the same plate number, police said. Gallagher followed the car in his own vehicle and kept his fellow officers informed of its progress, according to Gray.
Andover police stopped the car in their community and the two young occupants were arrested. Makenzie Schwartz, 17, of 1 Carriage Hill Road, Haverhill, and a 16-year-old boy were arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, the car in which they rode, Gray said.
Schwartz was expected to be arraigned in Lawrence District Court today.
