NORTH ANDOVER — This is your chance to use those new skis or snowshoes and enjoy a family day of snowshoeing, skiing or simply walking in the snow at Harold Parker State Forest Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Hike with a ranger at noon and enjoy hot chocolate and marshmallows. Come anytime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. — meet at the pavilion on Middleton Road, North Andover. Wear hiking footwear; bring water and sunscreen as appropriate. Feel free to bring snowshoes/skis.
Take Route. 114 from the north or south and follow the signs to Harold Parker State Forest. Turn right at the stop sign. Pavilion is on the left. Homeland Security agent to visit LHS
LAWRENCE — Christopher Martinez, a special agent for Homeland Security, will give an overview of the agency in 2013 when he speaks Friday at 8:45 a.m. at Lawrence High School, 70-72 N. Parish Road.
Martinez is an agent in charge of the Homeland Security Investigations Division of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He will give an overview of the various agencies that make up the department and its mission of conducting criminal investigations against terrorist and other criminal organizations that threaten national security.
Martinez has been with the agency for more than 25 years and has done everything from managing criminal investigations, dismantling narcotic smuggling rings and overseeing investigations into financial crimes aimed at defrauding citizens and the government.
The lecture is part of the White Fund Enlightenment Series presented by Northern Essex Community College.
