---- — LAWRENCE — Police said a Nashua, N.H. man drove to the city with his 3-year-old son in the car to buy drugs Tuesday afternoon.

George King, 35, and the city resident that he identified as his dealer were both arrested by the Police Department’s Special Operations-Street Narcotics Enforcement Unit.

King was charged with possession of cocaine and child endangerment. Police notified the state Department of Children and Families about his arrest. The agency later released the child to King’s grandmother.

The alleged dealer, Edy Deleon, 42, of 47 Chelmsford St., Lawrence, was charged with distribution of cocaine and distribution of cocaine in a school zone. The alleged drug transaction occurred in a parking lot at 188 Arlington St. — within 300 feet of the Arlington School, located at 150 Arlington St.

The special narcotic unit, joined by members of the state police drug task force, was conducting mobile surveillance throughout the city, when King’s red 2006 Saturn Ion sedan with a New Hampshire license plate caught their attention, Detective Carmen J. Purpora noted in his report.

Police watched the red Saturn drive into the parking lot at 188 Arlington St. and watched a man walk into the parking lot shortly after. A short time later, the man walked out and the red Saturn drove, with both parties separating in opposite directions.

Detectives stopped the Saturn on Broadway. King admitted he had crack cocaine, located in the side of the driver seat toward the center console. King later told police that he paid $120 for the crack cocaine he bought from Deleon.
