Region in a Minute

METHUEN — Methuen High School will welcome a group of students from Rome for two weeks this fall, and two of them need a place to stay.

Carousel Tours representative Sue Boswell is looking for two families who enjoy learning about different cultures and making lasting friendships. The students, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, will participate in various school days and full-day activities and trips to area attractions. Trips will depart from and return to the high school, and the students will be kept busy from the start of the school day until 5 p.m. most days, Monday through Friday. Evenings and weekends will be spent with the host families.

Any family with high school age children can be a host. The girl likes reading, listening to music, volleyball and traveling. She studies French and English, does not have allergies and her favorite foods are pizza and pasta. The boy likes to play chess, read books and go to the movies and has traveled extensively. He studies English and Spanish, plays tennis, likes music and plays the accordion, Boswell said.

The students arrive Sept. 22 and leave Oct. 7. They speak English and have their own spending money. All requested transportation is local — to and from the high school. More information is available by contacting Boswell at 978-835-0133 or hostandgo@charter.net.
