SALISBURY — Massachusetts General Hospital spokesman Emily Leminka said yesterday the man injured in Friday's Salisbury house fire was in serious condition.
Eric Keller suffered first-degree burns to his hands and face after a three-alarm fire broke out around 11:12 p.m. inside a home at 128 Lafayette Road.
According to Salisbury fire Chief Richard Souliotis, Keller is the brother of the homeowner. The victim was apparently in the living room when he noticed the fire. By the time firefighters from Salisbury, Amesbury, Newburyport and Merrimac arrived, Keller was semi-conscious. He was transported to Anna Jaques Hospital before being transferred to Mass General.
Souliotis said the cause of the blaze is still under investigation. What is known is that the fire started in the house's garage and was extinguished before it spread to other areas of the house. No one else was home at the time of the fire.
