Man robbed during minor traffic accident

LAWRENCE — A man told police he was attacked and robbed by two passengers in a car that struck his car from behind Monday night.

Leonardo Santos, 30, said he was traveling south on Broadway approaching Manchester Street in his 1997 Nissan Maxima at 9:18 p.m. when he felt a bump in the rear of his car and realized a car had struck the back bumper.

Santos told Officer Miguel Romero he pulled to the right and got out of his car and two passengers in the other car, a New Hampshire registered 2009 Nissan Altima got out and began yelling at him as they walked up to him.

Santos said the two men began assaulting him and later took his wallet, before running back to the car and fleeing south on Broadway and west onto Manchester Street.

The wallet contained his drivers license and personal papers, police said.

The rear bumper of Santos' car was damaged , but he declined medical attention.
