Festival of Trees anniversary continues with treasure hunt, picnic

METHUEN — The Festival of Trees Inc. marks its 20th anniversary this year. To continue its yearlong celebration of this historic achievement, the Festival of Trees wants to invite the community to the following events:

Emerald City Treasure Hunt: Sept. 1 to Dec. 7

The Festival of Trees invites the community to participate in its first-of-a-kind treasure hunt through the historic treasures of its preservation sites and throughout the Merrimack Valley. Players will seek out “emerald medallions” strategically displayed at historic preservation sites, area businesses that are sponsoring the hunt (AAA Southern New England; Coco, Early & Associates; A.P. Michaud Insurance Agency; Century 21 McLennan and Co.; Pentucket Medical; and TD Bank) and in the 2013 Festival of Trees program booklet.

By correctly recording the numbers on all displayed “emerald medallions”, players are entered into the Treasure Hunt Grand Prize drawing, a trip for two to Ireland, generously donated by AAA Southern New England.

The treasure Hunt kicks off on Sept. 1 and ends on Dec. 7, with the Grand Prize drawing taking place on closing day of the 2013 Festival of Trees. Entry fee is $10, and registration forms will be available for download on Sept. 1 at www.methuenfestivaloftrees.com.
