Annual River Day is set for Saturday

---- — Congresswoman Niki Tsongas will be hosting her Seventh Annual River Day this Saturday, Sept. 21, in celebration of the rivers that connect the Third Congressional District.

The day will begin at 9:15 a.m. in Lawrence with a boat ride on the Merrimack River to Pine Island where the Tsongas will meet with the Merrimack River Watershed Council, the Lawrence Community Boating Program and the Clean River Project to discuss programs designed for youth and the community.

She will then head to Hudson to participate in a river clean-up day hosted by OARS.

The final stop of the day will be in Fitchburg at Montachusett Regional Technical High School’s river ramp, where the congresswoman will meet with Ken Pearson and his environmental science class. Pearson was named the Massachusetts Audubon’s Teacher of the Year and he and his students will discuss the work they do to study and protect the river.

Ex-Patriots player to speak at Whittier Tech tonight

HAVERHILL — Former New England Patriots star running back Tony Collins will be the guest speaker at Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High’s Fall Informational Sports Meeting today at 6:30 p.m. in the school auditorium.

Collins, a motivational speaker, will discuss the impact of choices on one’s life. Collins will be available after the event for autographs and photographs.

Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend. Whittier is located at 115 Amesbury Line Road.

Happy Hearts choral group performs

METHUEN — The Methuen Senior Activity Center’s Happy Hearts Choral Group proudly presents this year’s big show featuring the “Sounds of Broadway Stage & Screen!”

Performances by this 40+ member chorus will be Thursday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m., at 77 Lowell St., Methuen. Tickets are available in advance or at the door, $5 donation. The public is invited to attend!

Psychic readings are tomorrow in Haverhill

HAVERHILL — Winnekenni Castle will host an evening of psychic readings tomorrow from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

Readers will be on hand inside the castle for appointments. The castle’s regular readers, Judith-Anne, Valeria and Kuri will be joined by special guest reader of the month, Terri Bessette, a specialist reader of cards and runes.

Cost is $20 per 15-minute reading. Multiple appointments may be purchased to create longer blocks of time with the readers.

Appointments are booked at the door only. Doors open at approximately 5:55 p.m.

Guests are permitted to purchase later hour appointments, leave the castle and then return in time for their session. Socializing before and after appointments in the castle’s main hall is welcomed. Refreshments will be available. For more information visit www.winnekenni.com.
