Shemekia Copeland at Blue Ocean Music Hall
Grammy-nominated songstress Shemekia Copeland hits the stage at the Blue Ocean Music Hall in Salisbury Friday night, touring in support of her 2012 record “33 1/3.”
Born in a musical family, Copeland took an early interest in singing the blues. Since she has received two Grammy nominations and shared the stage with icons such as B.B. King, Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton. She also has sung at the White House for the Obamas and was crowned the “Queen of Blues” at the Chicago Blues Festival in 2011.
“I want to keep growing,” Copeland said in a release. “My main goal when I started this was that I was going to do something different with this music, so that this music could evolve and grow.”

Catie Curtis at Jonathan’s Restaurant
Catie Curtis delivers her annual performance at Jonathan’s Restaurant in Ogunquit, Maine, on Saturday. The Maine native comes to Jonathan’s nearly every year, and it is a show that the owners look forward to.
“It’s just simply not a complete season for me without including Catie in our line up,” said owner Jonathan West.
This year Meg Hutchinson will be opening for Curtis.
