NECC announces Transfer College Days

College students interested in transferring are invited to attend Transfer College Days on Northern Essex Community College’s Haverhill and Lawrence campuses this month. Free and open to the public, the events will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Hartleb Technology Center, 100 Elliott St., and on Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the atrium of the Dimitry Building, 45 Franklin St., Lawrence.

Transfer College Days are open to any community members who are interested in talking with representatives from public and private colleges from across New England. They will provide information on program offerings, transfer requirements, financial aid, scholarships and other issues.

Participating schools include state universities from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine as well as many private institutions such as Simmons College, Brandeis University, Bentley University, Johnson & Wales, Merrimack College, Boston University, Columbia University, Syracuse University, The Boston Architectural Center and Endicott College. The event will highlight transfer opportunities for both full-time and part-time students.

EAST HAMPSTEAD — The Autumn Penny Sale to benefit the East Hampstead Union Church Operating Fund will be held on Saturday at the Vic Geary Center, 18 Greenough Road, Plaistow.

Buy 25 tickets for $1 at the ticket table as early as 10:00 a.m. Doors open at noon when participants may place tickets in the cups for the items they wish to win.

Winning tickets for the Penny Sale are drawn and announced starting at 7 p.m. Winners must be present during the drawing to claim their Penny Sale prizes. More tickets will be drawn until a winning ticket holder comes forward. The drawing ends at approximately 10 p.m.

More than 300 prizes include housewares, dolls, toys, and gift items for the whole family and pets, too. Numerous gifts and gift certificates from area businesses will be awarded throughout the evening. Additional items will be raffled off for $1 per ticket.
