---- — NORTH ANDOVER — Four police departments, with the assistance of a dog, searched the woods of Harold Parker State Forest late Tuesday night for a distraught young man.

After looking for the man for about an hour, the officers located him at his home and sent him to a hospital for evaluation, according to Lt. Charles Gray, spokesman for the North Andover Police Department.

A Middleton Street resident called police at 11:53 p.m. to report a partially clad man was on a porch in the neighborhood. The man then headed into the woods of the state forest, Gray said.

Troopers from the North Andover State Police barracks as well as North Andover and Andover officers began searching the area, Gray said. The Wilmington Police Department contributed a canine unit.

The searchers found items in the woods that revealed the man's identity, Gray said. The officers found him at his residence.

The man is believed to be in his mid-30s, Gray said.
