Search for missing Lawrence engineer widens

BOSTON — Friends, family and law enforcement officials continued their search yesterday for a missing Lawrence man.

Dive crews from the Boston police, Boston Fire Department, Coast Guard and state police combed the waters around the Marriott Long Wharf hotel in Boston, but once again found no trace of Eugene Losik, 25, of 270 Canal St.

Losik, a 2003 graduate of North Andover High School who most recently worked as an engineer at Raytheon in Andover, has been missing a week, since early Saturday, Feb. 20, after he walked out the back entrance of the hotel at 2:24 a.m.

He was last seen on video surveillance footage from the hotel in a T-shirt, slacks and dress shoes, entering Christopher Columbus Park on the harbor front.

Since his disappearance, friends and family, led by Losik's girlfriend Caitlin McGovern, have launched an exhaustive campaign to find him.

Most recently, Losik's family offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to his return, and his friends have started a Web site, findgenelosik.com, to gather information about his disappearance.

Rick Keilty, a long-time friend of Losik's, said a group of 30 people got together yesterday and passed out flyers with a picture of Losik and information about him to 45 area hospitals. He said the hospitals were going to check if he was there.

He said dive teams were in the water from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. yesterday, and plan on going out again on Tuesday, the 10-day mark for his disappearance.
