Derry road closes for bridge work

DERRY — A section of Rockingham Road will be closed from Sept. 3 to late November as the town builds a new bridge and installs water, sewer and drainage systems.

The road will be closed between Bradford Street and Winter Hill Road, according to public works director Michael Fowler.

Detour signs and message boards will be posted to guide motorists around the construction area. Residents who live in that area will be allowed access to their homes through use of other streets.

Motorists will be directed to one of two alternate routes. From Birch Street, they will be directed to Windham Road to Berry Road to rejoin Route 28. From Route 28 and the bypass intersection, they will continue to the rotary to Route 102 west and rejoin Route 28 in downtown Derry.

Weekly updates on the project are available at derrynh.org/subscribe. Anyone who has questions or concerns should contact the Department of Public Works at 432-6144.
