Open house slated at Searles Castle

WINDHAM — The Searles Castle open house will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 6 and 7.

Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for children.

Tickets will be sold at the ticket window until 3 p.m. Docents will give visitors a history of each room in the castle.

Theme baskets valued at $100 to $500 will be raffled for the benefit of the Sisters of Mercy to continue restoration of the castle.

Zippity-Zoo comes to Windham

WINDHAM — Zippity-Zoo for Tots will be in town April 12 for children ages 2 to 6.

The program begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Senior Center, North Lowell Road.

The cost is $6 per child and $10 for two from same family. Pre-register by April 3 by calling 965-1208.

Newton Cub Scouts hold food drive

NEWTON — Members of Cub Scout Pack 91 will conduct a food drive April 13.

Residents are asked to leave donations of nonperishable food and canned goods in bags or boxes near their mailbox by 9 a.m. that day. The Scouts will deliver reminders to all Newton homes April 6.

All items collected will be brought to the Newton Food Pantry.

Dinner, comedy show at Timberlane

PLAISTOW — Timberlane Regional High School will host a dinner and comedy show in the school cafeteria March 28.

Tickets are $10 for the dinner and show or $5 just for show. Dinner is from 6 to 7 p.m. and the comedy show starts at 7:15 p.m.

All profits will be donated to Ian Price’s family. Price, a Sandown boy, is recovering from several surgeries to remove a tumor from his spine.

Luncheon to benefit E. Hampstead church

HAMPSTEAD — A soup and sandwich luncheon will be offered April 3, at East Hampstead Union Church.

The luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The meal includes a variety of soups and sandwiches, chips, pickles, assorted beverages and desserts.

The suggested donation is $6 per person. Proceeds support the church’s operating fund. Take-out meals are available.

The church, which is wheelchair accessible, is at 225 E. Main St.
