A one-term Executive Council incumbent will be challenged by a former town councilor next week in District 3.
Republican Chris Sununu of Newfield is running for re-election. Democrat Bill Duncan of New Castle and Michael Baldassarre, a Libertarian candidate from Hampton, hope to knock Sununu out of the position.
The Executive Council advises the governor and provides a check on his or her power. District 3 represents 35 New Hampshire towns, including Atkinson, Danville, East Kingston, Hampstead, Kingston, Newton, Plaistow, Salem, Sandown and Windham.
