Salem man airlifted after possible domestic dispute

SALEM, N.H. — A Hawk Drive man suffered a serious head injury and was airlifted to a Boston hospital after an incident at his home last night.

The unidentified 42-year-old man was listed in stable condition at Massachusetts General Hospital late last night, police said.

The man suffered a "significant" head laceration in what may be "a possible domestic dispute," said Police Lt. Steve Malisos.

The man was injured as his wife attempted to drive away from their home. Police believe he tried to grab the car's passenger side window, which was partially open. He fell to the ground, hitting his head on the pavement. He cut his head and was knocked unconscious, Malisos said.

He was taken to Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen and then airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital.

The wife was uninjured and a neighbor called 911 to report the incident to police.

The incident remains under investigation and no charges were filed last night, Malisos said.
