CONCORD (AP) — New Hampshire’s Senate has unanimously passed legislation naming a scenic overlook of Mount Washington and an Interstate 93 welcome center after longtime Executive Councilor Ray Burton.
The overlook is on Route 302 across the entrance to the Mount Washington Hotel.
A ceremony dedicating the site to Burton was held in November, just before he died after 40 years of public service.
The bill also would name the welcome center on the northbound side of Interstate 93 the Raymond S. Burton Visitor Center.
Sen. Jeanie Forrester, the bill’s prime sponsor, said naming the sites after Burton would serve as an eternal reminder of his commitment to public service.
