Programs slated at Hampstead Public Library

---- — HAMPSTEAD — February movie night at Hampstead Public Library is tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.

The feature presentation, “Captain Phillips,” stars Academy Award winner Tom Hanks as U.S. cargo-ship captain Richard Phillips.

This film was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture. This movie presentation is free and open to the public. For more information, call 329-6411.

The library will have “Books for Breakfast” programs on Saturdays March 1, 15 and 29, from 9 to 11 a.m.

This event is to give families a chance to spend time together in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Come enjoy books, crafts, hot drinks and breakfast at no cost.

On Tuesday at 3 p.m., there is a free chair yoga class at Hampstead Public Library. The class has potential good health benefits with stretching and strengthening.

Participants can sit, stand or use the floor as they wish, and move at their own pace. This relaxing class is free and open to the public, and it meets monthly. Newcomers are always welcome. The instructor is Maggie Morgan from the Yoga Room in Hampstead.

Adult Storytime takes place at the Hampstead Public Library on the first and third Friday of the month at 10 a.m. March 7 and 21.

This program is designed for developmentally disabled patrons, but all adults are welcome. Read books, do a craft and have lots of fun.

Hampstead Public Library, in conjunction with Sylvan Learning, is giving high school students the opportunity to become familiar with the ACT, by having a free practice exam on Saturday, March 8, at 9 a.m.

The ACT is accepted by all colleges. Its format and scoring are different from the SAT, and it includes English, mathematics, reading and science components.

Advance registration for the practice is required by calling the library, 329-6411. You do not have to be a Hampstead resident to participate. Results will be available by March 12.

A representative from ServiceLink of Rockingham County will be at the library to present a New to Medicare workshop on Tuesday, March 11, at 1:30 p.m.

If you are new to Medicare, or will be going on Medicare soon, this event is for you. Workshop topics include: understanding the basics of Medicare, prescription drug coverage, Medicare supplements and preventing fraud. To register for this workshop, call ServiceLink at 893-9769.
