The university in Durham did not identify the employee nor what he or she did for the school. It also did not specify the misconduct that came to light about 10 days ago. University Police Chief Paul Dean said the allegations involve the invasion of privacy.
In a brief statement, the university said the staff member was first placed on administrative leave, then fired. The university police department is investigating.
A spokeswoman for the university declined to provide further details.

CONCORD (AP) — It’s colder than normal this time of year in New Hampshire, and the temperatures are going to struggle to make their way into to the 20s.
The National Weather Service says conditions in the state are well below normal for early March. High temperatures should be climbing into the upper 30s.
The cold is expected to last into today.
