---- — A former state representative and a political newcomer are fighting for a single House seat in District 35.
Democrat Kim Casey and Republican Richard Gordon, both East Kingston residents, want to represent the four-town district, which includes Newton, East Kingston, Kensington and South Hampton.
Kim Casey
Incumbent: No
Party: Democrat
Age: 57
Occupation: Homemaker
Elective office experience: School Board, state representative
What would you do if elected to office: I’ll work in a bipartisan way for common sense solutions, oppose downshifting to the property tax and provide excellent constituent service to the four communities.
Richard Gordon
Incumbent: No
Party: Republican
Age: 69
Occupation: Retired electric company maintenance foreman
Elective office experience: Selectman
What would you do if elected to office: I’m a Christian. I’m for smaller government; naturally, lower taxes, traditional families, against gun control. Trying to get everybody to get along.
