LONDONDERRY — Preliminary results show six Republicans and one Democrat have been elected in House District 5, which includes only the town of Londonderry.
Republican incumbents Al Baldasaro and David Lundgren tied for the most votes in District 5, pulling in 6,398 votes each.
They were closely followed by incumbents Betsy McKinney, 6,172; Robert Introne, 5,415; Sherman Packard, 5,321; Daniel Tamburello, 5307; and Democrat Lisa Whittemore, 5,261.
Tamburello campaigned outside the polls at Londonderry High School. He said being at the polls in person is still relevant and important.
“It’s important to make your presence known,” he said. “It’s always nice to meet our constituents, too.”
Democrat Edward Combes said getting out and meeting the voters is a great way to get a message to the voters before they step into the booths.
In 2010, Whittemore was the leading Democratic candidate, although there were nine Republicans sent to Concord that year.
Frank Emiro was the only Republican on the ballot who didn’t get elected, falling short with 4,880 votes.
