DANVILLE — Elisabeth “Betsy” Sanders was elected to a fifth term yesterday in Rockingham House District 12.
Sanders, a Republican, received 1,340 votes to 829 for Democrat and fellow Danville resident Thomas Billbrough Jr., 25. Both ran uncontested in the primary Sept. 11.
Sanders, 67, was a member of the House Fish and Game and Marine Resources Committee during the last legislative session.
If re-elected, Sanders said she would focus on legislation to reduce unnecessary restrictions and fees on fish and game, forestry, conservation and energy.
District 12 only represents Danville. In 2010, Sanders was the top vote-getter among seven candidates for four seats.
Before the recent redistricting, Danville was part of House District 7, which also represented Chester and Sandown.
