SALEM, N.H. – Police are asking residents to watch for a white Ford van, possibly bearing Massachusetts license plates, that may have been used in three burglaries over the weekend.
Large amounts of copper piping were stripped from three homes, all of which were unoccupied. Some may have been under construction, others for sale, according to Deputy police Chief Shawn Patten.
In one case, the burglars kicked open the front door; in the others, entry was gained through basement windows, Patten said.
Witnesses told police they saw a heavy-set man in his 50s or 60s, with a gray beard, and a woman, possibly in her 30s.
Residents who see anything suspicious, particularly around unoccupied houses, are asked to call police at (603) 893-1911.
Last week, Atkinson police identified Sandown resident Teddy Willette, 32, as the sole suspect in as many as eight copper thefts in four towns, Atkinson, Hampstead, Plaistow and Sandown.
