DERRY — Police said a bullet found yesterday morning at West Running Brook Middle School was believed to have been brought to school by a student.
A school staff member found the bullet in a hallway shortly before 8 a.m., according to Derry police Capt. Vern Thomas.
“It appears it was brought in by a juvenile and dropped,” Thomas said.
He said there was no need to lock down the school once the bullet was recovered. He declined to comment further on the student or the bullet.
Superintendent Laura Nelson said parents were notified of the incident by phone and told there was no threat to student safety. No students were in the hallway when the bullet was found, she said.
Several students were interviewed, but no one admitted bringing the bullet to school, Nelson said.
