CHESTERFIELD (AP) — New Hampshire State Police have identified the driver of a tractor trailer unit who was killed when his truck slid into a snow-covered embankment in Chesterfield.
Police say 52-year-old Fritz Etienne of Tewskbury, Mass., was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was the only person involved.
Etienne was traveling west on Route 9 Wednesday when the trailer started to slide due to icy road conditions. Police say he tried to get out on the driver’s side, but ended up getting pinned underneath the vehicle.
Police said the unit came to rest on the westbound shoulder, with the tractor portion facing east and the trailer portion facing northwest.
Police are still investigating the accident.
