CONCORD (AP) — Former Republican New Hampshire House Speaker William O’Brien says he’s filing paperwork to form a congressional campaign committee for the 2nd District seat.
WMUR-TV reports O’Brien is the first Republican to take a formal step to run for a major office in New Hampshire.
O’Brien, of Mont Vernon, is serving his fourth term in the New Hampshire House. He was speaker from 2010-2012.
The 2nd District seat is currently occupied by Democrat Annie Kuster, who defeated Republican incumbent Charlie Bass last year after losing to him in 2010.
