Chorus begins holiday show rehearsals

KINGSTON — Voice of Distinction starts rehearsals tomorrow in preparation for its 12th season.

The first rehearsal is at 7 p.m. at Main Street Congregational Church in Amesbury, Mass.

This is an adult community chorus led by Danny Smith that will present its annual holiday performance, “Peace on Earth ... The Sounds of Christmas,” in Kingston and Amesbury. Auditions are not required.

Kingston dinner assists hockey program

KINGSTON — A spaghetti dinner will be served Saturday, Oct. 5, to benefit the Sanborn ice hockey program.

The dinner is from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Sanborn Regional High School cafeteria. Gift baskets will be raffled.

The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students and $12 for families. Tickets are available at the door and by contacting representatives for the hockey program.

Students, get free college essay help

HAMPSTEAD — Hampstead Public Library is hosting a free workshop designed for high school seniors, “The Write Stuff: College Essays,” on Monday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m.

The speaker is from NHHEAF. Attendees will get tips and strategies on developing the written portion of college applications, including essays, college resume and letters of recommendation.

Those who have a college essay in progress should bring it to the workshop. Students do not need to be a Hampstead resident to attend. Register in advance by calling the library at 329-6411 or emailing ProgramsHPL@gmail.com.

Internship, job fair in Windham

WINDHAM — The 2013 Internship, Community Service and Job Fair for high school students will be Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 7 to 9 a.m. at Windham High, 64 London Bridge Road.

Coat drive scheduled for Oct. 5

WINDHAM — The Woman’s Club coat drive is Saturday, Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Town Hall.

People who can’t donate coats or sweaters that day can use drop-off locations at Nesmith Library and Shaw’s supermarket.
