SALEM — Police arrested a man who allegedly fired a gun at a jogger last week during an apparent road rage incident.
Robert Storie, 56, of Windham was charged with reckless conduct yesterday afternoon following a dispute about 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 19, police said.
Storie, who turned himself in to police about 2 p.m., was driving a SUV that stopped suddenly at the intersection of Shannon Road and Clubhouse Drive, according to Deputy police Chief Shawn Patten.
The jogger was upset because the driver came close to hitting him, spurring an argument, Patten said. The unidentified jogger then spit on the vehicle when Storie started to drive toward him, but then stopped, Patten said.
The jogger told police Storie pointed a handgun out the driver’s side window and fired a round of ammunition. The jogger wasn’t injured and the vehicle drove off, Patten said.
With help from the jogger, police found a shell casing at the intersection the next morning, Patten said.
Police tracked down Storie based on the vehicle’s description and details provided by the jogger, Patten said. They also seized a .40-caliber handgun from Storie, he said.
Storie was released on $10,000 personal recognizance pending his arraignment in 10th Circuit Court.
