DERRY — Police have arrested a suspect in the armed robbery of CVS on Sept. 16.
Edward Hewitt, 19, turned himself in to police early Sunday on an arrest warrant for the robbery and a bench warrant out of Keene for failure to appear, according to Capt. Vern Thomas.
Hewitt, with no known address, is being held on $25,000 cash bail on the robbery charge and $500 cash for the bench warrant.
The CVS pharmacy was robbed at gunpoint just before 3:30 a.m. Sept. 16.
The suspect entered the store, which is open around the clock, pulled a handgun from his waistband and ordered employees to the back of the store, where the pharmacy is located.
He demanded and received narcotics from the pharmacist, then fled the store on foot.
Local and state police responded, including a K-9 team, but the suspect wasn’t found.
Through their investigation, Derry police identified Hewitt as the suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Thomas said Hewitt turned himself in at 2:30 Sunday morning.
