---- — Following are Veterans Day related events:
ANDOVER: Today, three brief ceremonies across town followed by a luncheon. Program starts at 10 a.m. at West Parish Cemetery, then moves to Spring Grove Cemetery at 11 a.m. and Ballardvale Green at noon. Lunch will follow the ceremonies at 1 p.m. at the Masonic Temple at 7 High St. The Veterans Services Department will be releasing its fifth book in its “Heroes Among Us” project, and the veterans featured in the latest edition will each receive an official copy.
NORTH ANDOVER: Parade will form at First and Main streets at 9:45 a.m. today and step off at 10:15 and march to Patriots Memorial Park, near the Stevens Memorial Library, for the memorial service. The parade will then reform and march along Main Street to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2104 on Park Street, where the flag will be raised and all departed veterans will be saluted. Should the weather interfere, the ceremony will be held in the North Andover Middle School auditorium at 10:30 a.m.
HAVERHILL: Parade today will form at 10 a.m. in front of the VFW Lorraine Post 29 at 64 Kenoza Ave. The parade will start at 10:30 a.m. sharp and proceed to Monument Square, down Main Street to the Global Peace Monument on Ginty Boulevard, where services will be held. At the conclusion of the services, the colors will be retired and the parade will be disbanded. A buffet luncheon will be held at the American Legion Farm, 1314 Main St.
LAWRENCE: Members of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 2, will host a wreath laying ceremony at the World War II Memorial at Campagnone Common on today at 11 a.m. The ceremony is open to the public. The bridge at the corner of Marston and Canal streets will be dedicated in memory of Staff Sgt. Alex R. Jimenez on Friday, Nov. 15 at noon. Jimenez went missing in action in Iraq on May 12, 2007 during an ambush west of Mahmudiyah, Iraq and his body was not recovered until 14 months later. He was a member of the 4th batalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2nd brigade, 10th Mountain Division of the U.S. Army.
METHUEN : Parade will be held today starting at 9:30 a.m at American Legion Post, 200 Broadway. The parade steps off up Broadway, left on Hampshire Street, left on Lowell St., left on Grove St. to Walnut Grove Cemetery for ceremonies. Parade reforms and proceeds down Grove St., left on Lowell St., right on Barker St., left on Lowell St., right on Hampshire St., right on Broadway to American Legion Post. At noon, ceremonies will be held by the Arnold F. Greenwood Post 8349 at the Veterans Lot in Elmwood Cemetery. At 1:15 p.m.: Announcement of Veterans Department school postercontest and Voiland Flag program fundraising raffle.
ATKINSON: Veterans Day will begin today with a breakfast at the fire station at 9 a.m. for veterans and their friends and family. A ceremony will follow at 10 a.m. which is open to the public.
DANVILLE: American Legion Post 115 will host a ceremony at 10:45 a.m. today at the veterans memorial in the center of town. The short ceremony will pay tribute to veterans past and present..
DERRY: Veterans Day begins today with Pinkerton Academy’s senior class hosting a free breakfast for veterans and guests from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Academy Building cafe. Traditional services will be held at 10:30 a.m. in MacGregor Park. Following service, VFW Post 1617 hosts an open house at its post on Railroad Avenue
HAMPSTEAD: There will be a ceremony at 11 a.m. today at Hampstead Middle School led by Col. Howell Steadman. The town will lay a wreath in front of a monument and raise the American flag.
KINGSTON: The Kingston Veterans Club invites all veterans to a celebration today. A group photo will be at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. The club is at 36 Church St.
PELHAM: The Veterans Day ceremony is at 11 a.m. today at Veterans Memorial Park on Mammoth Road. A sunset service will be held at 4 p.m. at Gibson Cemetery, Marsh Road.
PLAISTOW: The town will hold its Veterans Day ceremony at 9 a.m. today at Town Hall on Main Street. The town will then present citations to Korean War veterans at 11 a.m. at American Legion Post 34, 176 Main St.; lunch will follow.
SALEM: There will be a ceremony at 11 a.m. today at Veterans Park on Main Street.
