Derry woman named head of state garden club

---- — Michelle Mensinger of Derry was installed as state president of the New Hampshire Federation of Garden Clubs Inc. at the organization’s 80th annual meeting May 29 at the Keene Country Club.

Mensinger is a former Derry Garden Club president and has served on the NHFGC Board of Directors for a number of years in various capacities, most recently on the NHFGC Executive Board as a vice president.

Mensinger served on the National Garden Clubs Inc. Board as Endangered Species chairman for four years and continues to serve as Wildlife, Birds, Butterflies chairman on the board of the New England Region of National Garden Clubs Inc.

She is an NGC Certified Master Flower Show Judge and has won a number of blue ribbons and special awards at flowers shows all over New England, including the New England Flower Show held annually in Boston.

Mensinger’s theme for her 2013-2015 administration is “BEE Aware, BEE Concerned, BEE a Friend to Pollinators,” promoting public awareness of the need to protect pollinators such as bees to pollinate flowers, vegetable gardens and fruit orchards.

The New Hampshire Federation of Garden Clubs Inc., a member of National Garden Clubs Inc./New England Region, is a nonprofit organization of women and men who share a love of gardening and the environment. Through its many programs, NHFGC provides education, resources and statewide networking opportunities for its members to promote the love of gardening, floral design, civic beautification, and civic and environmental responsibility.
