GILFORD — Four people were injured and one person charged after two boats collided on Lake Winnipesaukee Friday night.
Both boats were seriously damaged after colliding in Wentworth Cove just before 10:30 p.m., according to the New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol.
Barry K. Myers, 50, of Dracut was charged with boating while intoxicated.
Myers was operating a 21-foot 1989 Chaparral powerboat which collided with a 26-foot, 2003 Formula powerboat operated by Brenda Stowe, 50, of Gilford.
Four people were taken to Lakes Region General Hospital for treatment of injuries, ranging from a broken arm to possible internal injuries, according to the marine patrol.
Officer Michael Wetherbee and Officer Nicholas Haroutunian responded to the scene and administered first aid until fire boats from Gilford and Laconia could respond.
Myers’ passengers were Chris Dortona, 49, of Revere and Lawrence Edwards, 49, of Georgetown. Steven Bauer, 52, of Gilford was a passenger in Stowe’s boat. Myers refused treatment.
The Marine Patrol’s technical boating accident reconstruction team is investigating.
