PELHAM – Two of 20 businesses failed liquor sales compliance checks conducted by police and state liquor enforcement.
A 16-year-old boy and 18-year-old woman were used to try to buy liquor from the stores. They claimed to be 21.
Ace Cigarettes and Dimitriou’s Restaurant, both located on Bridge Street, sold to one of the minors, police said.
Clerks were charged with misdemeanor offenses of prohibited sales and will appear later in 10th Circuit Court in Salem, police said. Their names were not released.
“The ultimate goal of the Pelham Police Department and the New Hampshire Bureau of Liquor Enforcement is to get 100 percent compliance of the licensed businesses throughout the town and to reduce the number of minors possessing and consuming alcoholic beverages,” officials said in announcing results of the check.
