Crimeline seeks tips in Salem thefts

The Eagle-Tribune

---- — SALEM — Crimeline of Southern New Hampshire seeks the public’s help in solving multiple computer thefts at Best Buy in December.

The suspects in these thefts are believed to have committed similar crimes at other Best Buy stores in New England. They stole ASUS laptops, Model number G74SX-BBK8, with a total value of $8,000.

The suspects typically work in teams of three. One person will use a portable staircase to remove laptops from the top shelf while another person will walk out with the computers. A third person distracts the Best Buy greeter at the door.

The suspects have been attaching used stickers that Best Buy greeters place on merchandise after it has been returned.

If the suspect walking out with the computer is questioned by a store employee, the suspect will show the return sticker on the box. The suspect tries to convince the employee he changed his mind about returning the item and will leave the store.

Two of the suspects are men who are described as black, bald and between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall. One weighs about 225 to 250 pounds while the other weighs 250 to 275 pounds.

The third suspect is also a black male who is between 5 feet 10 inches tall and 6 feet tall. He weighs about 175 to 215 pounds.

A fourth suspect is a woman who is white and has blonde hair. She is about 5 feet 6 inches or 5 feet 7 inches tall, has a medium build, and weighs about 140 to 150 pounds.

The suspects are known to use a rental car while committing the thefts.

Anyone who has information about these suspects is asked to call Crimeline at 893-6600 or 800-498-4040 or to go crimelinesnh.com.

Callers remain anonymous and are issued a secret number. If suspects are arrested and convicted, callers can receive up to $1,000 from Crimeline. Tipsters are not required to go to court or face police.

But the reward will be doubled if a tipster offers to testify in court and it results in a conviction.
