Call to artists for garden club's Petals and Palettes

ATKINSON — The Atkinson Garden Club once again extends an invitation to all area artists interested in submitting their works for display at the club’s fourth semiannual Petals and Palettes extravaganza Friday and Saturday, March 1 and 2 at the Atkinson Resort and Country Club.

Artists’ work of various media — oils, pastels, water colors, collage, photography, sculpture, jewelry and more — will be displayed and interpreted by AGC’s accomplished and prize-winning floral designers.

The club’s Petals and Palettes Committee asks that color photos of works intended for display, along with their particulars — title, (framed) size, medium, type of easel provided, etc — be submitted by Jan. 23, along with the artist’s address, phone and email to: Atkinson Garden Club, c/o Janet Snowdon, PO Box 571, Atkinson, 03811.

Danville issuing new dog tags

DANVILLE — Dog tags for 2013 are now available at the town clerk’s office.

Dogs must be licensed by April 30. Residents can license in their dogs in person at the clerk’s office, mail a check made out to the Town of Danville along with a self-addressed stamped envelope, or register online.

To register online, go to www.townofdanville.org and click on the dog license icon. Enter the license number, including the 12. This number can be found on the previous paper license issued and also the previous tag.

The cost is $6.50 for spayed or neutered dogs or $9 for those not spayed or neutered. The fee for dogs owned by anyone 65 or older is $3.

Summer jobs available in Plaistow

PLAISTOW — Plaistow Summer Recreation is now accepting applications for various summer programs.

Temporary positions are available for the following positions: summer recreation director, assistant directors and counselors.

The summer program runs for six weeks, from Monday through Friday. Applicants must have enthusiasm, patience and great leadership qualities.

Women’s basketball set in Pelham

PELHAM — Women’s pick-up basketball starts Monday, Jan. 28, in the Pelham Memorial School gym.

Games are from 8 to 10 p.m.
