Salem police seek suspect in car theft

SALEM — Police are seeking information about a suspect in a car theft in late December.

A man parked his car at The Workout Club at 16 Pelham Road on Dec. 31 at about 5:30 p.m.

Police were called there for a report of a stolen car. The victim said he left his car, a blue 2006 Buick Lacrosse with Massachusetts plates, in the club parking lot. He told police he left his keys in the “key bucket” at the front desk.

After working out, the victim went to retrieve his keys and discovered them missing. His car, too, was nowhere to be found.

After viewing club surveillance video, police identified the suspect as a man in his 20s or 30s, with a goatee. he was wearing a black jacket, jeans and sunglasses at the time.

On Jan. 4, the victim’s car turned up in Lowell — missing its tires and rims.
