Man faces three felony child porn charges

WINDHAM — Police have arrested a Windham man for allegedly distributing child pornography.

David L. Roth, 20, of 8 Jackman Ridge Road was arrested a week ago today, police Capt. Mike Caron said.

He is charged with three felony counts of distribution of child sexual abuse images.

Each charge carries a potential jail term of seven and a half to 15 years in prison.

Roth was released on $25,000 personal recognizance.

Bail conditions require Roth to refrain from using the Internet. He cannot have contact with anyone under the age of 16, unless it is a family member.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 25 in 10th Circuit Court in Salem.

Caron said the Portsmouth-based New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which investigates sexual exploitation involving children, referred the matter to Windham police after encountering the images.

“They were able to locate the (Internet protocol) address from his computer,” Caron said.

No Windham children were involved, police said.

“He wasn’t creating it,” Caron said. “He wasn’t manufacturing it.”

Police obtained a search warrant, seized a computer belonging to Roth and recovered three videos, Caron said.

“We checked the computer and were able to pull the images off the hard drive,” he said.

Roth cooperated and turned himself into police the day a warrant was issued for his arrest, Caron said.

Jackman Ridge Road is an upscale neighborhood.
