Windham names recreation volunteer of the year

WINDHAM — At the deliberative session on Saturday, recreation coordinator Cheryl Haas presented Bruce Breton with the Recreation Volunteer of the Year Award.

The award has been given out for several years. It is given to someone who has gone above and beyond with recreation in Windham. The Recreation Committee voted in a unanimous decision on the recipient for this year.

Breton is always helping at recreation events — Town Day, the Easter Egg hunt, Harvest Fest, senior Christmas party, or the tree-lighting. He is always the first one there, helping set up and is always willing to get any last-minute items that are needed.

In addition to volunteering at events, Breton is constantly coming up with suggestions and ideas for new programs to offer to residents or how to make current programs even better.

Breton developed the very successful park ranger program which has been in existence for the past three years.
