SALEM, N.H. — Police are looking to arrest a man who fired a gun at a jogger during an apparent road rage incident.
The incident occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m. Thursday when a sport utility vehicle stopped suddenly at the intersection of Shannon Road and Clubhouse Drive, Salem Deputy police Chief Shawn Patten said.
The jogger was upset because the driver came close to hitting him, spurring an argument, Patten said.
The unidentified jogger then spit on the vehicle when the man started to drive toward him but stopped, Patten said. The jogger told police the driver pointed a handgun out the driver’s side window and fired a round of ammunition, he said.
The jogger wasn’t injured, and the vehicle drove off, Patten said.
With help from the jogger, police found a shell casing at the intersection when they inspected the area yesterday morning, Patten said.
Police found a potential suspect based on the vehicle’s description and details provided by the jogger, he said. The man had not been arrested as of late yesterday afternoon.
Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call them at 603-893-1911 or Southern New Hampshire Crimeline at 603-893-6600.
