Open house at Punchard Center

---- — ANDOVER - The Center at Punchard will celebrate Senior Center Month with an open house Friday, Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 30 Whittier Court.

Many of the center’s groups will be represented and all groups welcome new members.

There will be a complimentary continental breakfast at 9 a.m. with legislative forum hosted by the COA advisory board.

At 10:30 a.m. TRIAD hosts Mike Mansfield, Andover Fire Chief, in a “Lock Box” forum. From noon to 1 p.m. there is a buffet lunch: $4 advance ticket purchase required and at 1 p.m. an emergency preparedness forum.

Tower Hill Neighborhood meeting Wednesday

LAWRENCE - The next general meeting for the Tower Hill Neighborhood Association will be held on Wednesday Sept. 25. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held at OLGC Parish Judson Hall, directly behind St. Augustine’s Chapel, 526 Lowell St.

Interim Police Chief, Capt. James Fitzpatrick will be in attendance to discuss public safety concerns with attendees. Also representatives from Fire Department and City Councilors. Holy Family Hospital receives $300K from state

METHUEN - Holy Family Hospital will receive $300,000 as part of $14.5 million in funding to 57 hospitals across the state, including critical access hospitals and community health centers, to help them transition to integrated delivery systems that provide more effective and cost-efficient care to patients in need.

“We rely on hospitals and community health centers throughout the Commonwealth to provide residents with accessible, cost-effective health care,” said Gov. Deval Patrick. “This funding will help providers improve services so patients get the care they need, and ultimately, it will support our top priority of controlling health care costs.”

Funding was included in the FY13 state budget and the awards are supported by federal matching funds. The funding is designed to support one of five priority areas at hospitals and community health centers.

Economic forum slated in Derry

DERRY — “Business, Industry and the Local Economy” is the topic of a breakfast forum Thursday in Derry.

The Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce is hosting the forum at the Frost Farm, 122 Rockingham Road, from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

The forum is free to members, $10 for nonmembers. A continental breakfast is included.

Speakers are Richard Holmes of the Derry Historical Society and Peter Griffin of the Windham Heritage Commission.

Honor Flight founder speaks to Windham club

WINDHAM — Honor Flight New England founder Joe Byron speaks to the Woman’s Club on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Town Hall.

The event starts at 11:30 a.m. Guests are welcome.

Karate classes offered in Pelham

PELHAM — Karate lessons start Oct. 15 for boys and girls, ages 4 to 7.

The cost is $20 per child. Registration is ongoing.
