Learn all about organic gardening

KINGSTON — Nichols Memorial Library will offer a backyard organic gardening program on Thursday, from 6 to 7 p.m., in the second-floor Town Hall meeting room.

The program will be presented by Larry Pletcher, who runs a small organic farm in Warner.

Pletcher will show how to make raised beds, understand soil tests, get seeds started, and keep bugs and weeds under control. Admission is free.

Reserve space now for Sandown Old Home Day

SANDOWN — The 108th Old Home Day will be on Saturday, Aug. 8, at Sandown Central School.

Reservations for vendor and craftsman booths are being accepted. It costs $25 for a 10-by-10-foot space.

Old Home Day is an all-day event, including a parade, amusements, 5-mile road race, games, entertainment, food and more.

Donate at Windham blood drive June 22

WINDHAM — An American Red Cross blood drive will be held Monday, June 22, at St. Matthew Church, 2 Searles Road.

The drive, from 2 to 7 p.m., is sponsored by American Legion Post 109 of Windham and Knights of Columbus Council 7572. Donors will receive a Red Cross/Red Sox T-shirt.

Danville event helps scholarship fund

DANVILLE — A fundraiser to benefit the Deidre Budzyna Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held Saturday, June 27, at Danville Fire Association Hall, 169 Main St.

The event, which is $15 per person, will include entertainment, food, raffles and an auction. The scholarship fund will benefit Timberlane Regional High School students who major in humanities.

Blood drive scheduled in Pelham

PELHAM — The American Red Cross will host a blood drive Thursday, June 25, at St. Patrick Parish, 12 Main St.

The blood drive is from 3 to 8 p.m., and sponsored by Knights of Columbus Council 6902. Donors will receive a Red Cross/Red Sox T-shirt.

Summer program kicks off at Gale Library

NEWTON — Gale Library will offer reading clubs, story hours, drop-in crafts and special prizes as part of its summer reading program.

There also will be special events for all ages beginning at the end of June. The first 50 people to register for reading clubs will receive free Portland Sea Dogs tickets.
