Birches Academy offers special events

---- — SALEM — Birches Academy of Arts and Academics is organizing several special events to help support the school, including the Pumpkinfest Arts & Crafts Fair on Sunday.

Pumpkinfest is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. outside the school at 419 S. Broadway. There will be vendors, entertainment, food, face painting, crafts and games, and fingerprinting kits for children courtesy of the Salem Police Department. Admission is free.

On Oct. 19, the school presents Night Out with Birches Academy, from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Derry-Salem Elks Lodge. There will be food from local restaurants, raffles, silent auctions, dancing and a cash bar.

The cost is $10, or free for participants in the school’s raffle. Raffle tickets are $100. First prize is $10,000, second prize is $2,500 and third prize is $500.

For parents interested in learning more about the school, Birches is offering tours Oct. 30, Nov. 27, Jan. 19, Feb. 19, March 26, April 30 and May 28.

Business open house slated in Windham

WINDHAM — The Black Moose Country Store holds an open house Saturday, Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The new business, featuring gifts and home decorations, is at Cobbetts Pond Plaza.

Art classes offered in Pelham

PELHAM – Art classes for youths ages 6 and up start Oct. 29.

There are beginner and advanced sessions. The cost is $95 per child.
