PLAISTOW— A Haverhill, Mass., woman is accused of shoplifting from Kohl’s and carrying prescription drugs not prescribed to her, police said.
Security personnel at Kohl’s reported they saw Laurie Clifford, 49, take three rings out of a box and place them on her fingers. She also was seen by security taking tags off a purse and a sweater.
Police said Clifford paid for some items before attempting to leave the store. She was approached by security and police were called. The value of the merchandise stolen was $188.
Police said they found nine pills which she did not have a prescription for. The pills were dextroamphetamine and lorazepam.
Clifford was charged with theft by unauthorized taking and possession of a controlled drug. She was released after making $2,500 bail. She is due in court on March 4.
