SALEM — The Salem School Board will hold a public forum regarding school safety and security on Monday at 7 p.m.
The meeting will be held in the television studio at Salem High School.
The forum is open to parents of all students as well as interested citizens who want to learn more about current practices and also to share thoughts about improving procedures.
In light of the tragic school shooting in Connecticut, the School Board and administrators want to explain current emergency procedures. Joining school district officials will be Chief Kevin Breen of the Salem Fire Department, and Deputy Chief Shawn Patten of the Salem Police Department.
Breen directs the community’s emergency operations and response. Patten is responsible for the school resource officers and their training. Both men can discuss training and response strategies and respond to questions and concerns.
Most of the time provided by this forum will be dedicated to hearing from parents and members of the public regarding concerns and thoughts about improving school safety practices and protocols.
