Pelham mourns former Budget Committee member

---- — PELHAM – The town is mourning the loss of a former longtime Budget Committee member whose family is prominent in community service.

Dennis Viger, 62, died Sunday at his home.

He is the husband of Pelham Elementary School assistant principal Michelle Viger and father of Selectman Doug Viger.

“This is very sad news,” Selectmen’s Chairman William McDevitt said. “Dennis had served many years on the Budget Committee.”

McDevitt described the Vigers as a family very oriented toward community and public service.

“There are deep lines there in the community,” Budget Committee Chairman Larry Hall said.

Hall described Viger as a wonderful man and a great stablizing presence for the committee.

“The town always came first for him,” Hall said.

Viger, a Lawrence native, served more than 30 years on the Budget Committee.

He was an engineer who worked in telecommunications.

The calling hours for Viger are from 4 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m.. Thursday at the funeral home.

He will be buried in Pelham at Gibson Cemetery.
